Best Individual Performances of the 2021 Roswell Invaders Season
The 2021 Roswell Invaders season featured big offensive nights, strong starting pitching and plenty of dramatic games at Joe Bauman Stadium and around the Pecos League. Roswell's lineup featured a productive group led by players such as Bret Leiferman, Lance Myers, Colton Adams, Robert Morosetti, Cole Chambers and Austin Thurman, while Ashton Holdridge, Carter Coats, Easton Barnes, Kyle Kuttruf and Ian Concevitch provided important innings on the mound. These were some of the best individual performances of the 2021 Roswell Invaders season.
Colton Adams — 3-for-3, Three Runs and Two Stolen Bases at Colorado Springs
Colton Adams produced one of his best all-around games on June 12 against the Colorado Springs Snow Sox.
Adams went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases. He reached base in all five of his plate appearances and was constantly creating scoring opportunities for the Invaders.
Roswell collected 13 hits and carried an 8-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth before Colorado Springs rallied for a 9-8 victory. Even in the loss, Adams' combination of hitting, patience and speed made this one of the best individual offensive performances of Roswell's season.
Ashton Holdridge — Seven Strong Innings at Colorado Springs
The June 12 game also featured an outstanding start from Ashton Holdridge.
Holdridge pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out five. He left Roswell in excellent position with a five-run lead after seven innings.
Holdridge threw 105 pitches, 62 for strikes, and faced 31 hitters. His seven-inning effort was one of Roswell's strongest starting pitching performances during the early part of the season.
Bret Leiferman — Two Hits and 2 RBIs at Colorado Springs
Bret Leiferman continued his tremendous start to the season in the June 12 game at Colorado Springs.
Leiferman went 2-for-5, scored a run and drove in two. The performance raised his batting average to .442 at that point of the season and continued an outstanding offensive stretch for the Roswell first baseman/outfielder.
Robert Morosetti — Two Hits and a Stolen Base at Colorado Springs
Robert Morosetti also contributed a strong game on June 12, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base.
Morosetti reached base three times as part of Roswell's 13-hit attack. His performance was part of a lineup in which Adams, Leiferman, Hunter Hill and Morosetti combined for nine hits.
Carter Coats — Winning Pitcher in 15-11 Victory at Santa Fe
Carter Coats earned an important early-season victory on June 5 when Roswell defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 15-11 at Fort Marcy Park.
Coats earned the win as Roswell's offense put 15 runs on the scoreboard. The victory moved the Invaders to 3-1 and gave Roswell an early road win against its New Mexico rival.
Easton Barnes — Winning Pitcher in Road Victory over Tucson
Easton Barnes delivered an important performance on June 24 as Roswell defeated the Tucson Saguaros 11-8 on the road.
Barnes earned the victory at Amphi High School as the Invaders picked up one of their biggest road wins of the first half. Roswell collected 11 hits against Tucson pitching and scored enough to give Barnes and the bullpen the support they needed.
Ashton Holdridge — Five-Inning Victory over Garden City
Ashton Holdridge returned to the center of another Roswell victory on July 5 against the Garden City Wind.
Holdridge worked five innings and faced 26 hitters as Roswell defeated Garden City 15-5 at Clint Lightner Field. It was an important road performance for a Roswell club that was beginning to find its rhythm during the middle of the season.
The 10-run victory was one of Roswell's most convincing road wins of the summer.
Ian Concevitch — Sparks 10-9 Victory over Santa Fe
Ian Concevitch played an important role in one of Roswell's most dramatic victories of the season on July 18 against Santa Fe.
Concevitch collected a hit in two at-bats as Roswell edged the Fuego 10-9 at Joe Bauman Stadium. Kyle Kuttruf earned the victory by pitching an inning of relief, striking out two while allowing one hit.
The one-run victory moved Roswell to 20 wins on the season and began an important stretch of home victories.
Kyle Kuttruf — Two Strikeouts in Winning Relief Appearance
Kyle Kuttruf came through in relief during Roswell's July 18 victory over Santa Fe.
Kuttruf pitched one inning, struck out two and allowed only one hit while earning the victory in the 10-9 game. In a game decided by a single run, his work out of the bullpen proved important to the final outcome.
Bret Leiferman — Two Hits in Another Win over Santa Fe
One night later, Bret Leiferman again found himself in the middle of Roswell's offense.
Leiferman went 2-for-3 on July 19 as Roswell defeated Santa Fe at Joe Bauman Stadium. The performance was another example of Leiferman's consistency during a season in which he established himself as one of Roswell's most productive hitters.
Mike Herrera earned the victory with an inning of relief.
Easton Barnes — Five Innings and 5 Strikeouts against Santa Fe
Easton Barnes gave Roswell another important performance on July 20 against Santa Fe.
Barnes pitched five innings, struck out five and allowed five hits as Roswell defeated the Fuego 13-11. The victory was Roswell's third consecutive win and continued a productive home stretch against Santa Fe.
Barnes' five-inning effort gave Roswell enough length to turn the game over to the bullpen with the Invaders in position to win.
Greg Carrington — Two Scoreless Innings to Beat Alpine
Greg Carrington produced one of Roswell's most unusual and valuable performances on July 21 against the Alpine Cowboys.
Carrington took the mound and threw two scoreless innings without allowing a hit as Roswell won a wild 12-11 game at Joe Bauman Stadium. His relief work earned him the victory.
In a game where the two teams combined for 23 runs, Carrington's ability to put zeroes on the scoreboard late in the game proved especially valuable.
Even in defeat, Carter Coats produced one of Roswell's highest-strikeout starts of the season on July 22 against Alpine.
Coats worked six innings and struck out eight while walking only one. He threw 95 pitches, 61 for strikes, and faced 27 hitters.
The eight-strikeout performance demonstrated Coats' ability to miss bats against a strong Alpine lineup and stands as one of Roswell's better individual pitching performances despite the 7-1 loss.
Bret Leiferman — Another Multi-Hit Performance against Alpine
Bret Leiferman continued his strong season on July 22 by going 2-for-4 against Alpine.
Leiferman entered the game hitting .422 and again supplied two of Roswell's seven hits. Hunter Hill also went 2-for-4 and scored Roswell's only run, while Cole Chambers drove him home.
Ashton Holdridge — A Workhorse in the Roswell Rotation
Few Roswell pitchers were involved in more important games during 2021 than Ashton Holdridge.
His seven-inning, five-strikeout performance at Colorado Springs was one of the strongest starts of the season. He later worked five innings to earn the victory in Roswell's 15-5 road win over Garden City and also picked up the victory when Roswell scored 20 runs against Trinidad on June 30.
Holdridge's ability to give Roswell innings throughout the summer made him an important part of the Invaders pitching staff.
The 2021 Roswell Invaders finished the regular season with 35 victories, and their season included standout performances throughout the lineup and pitching staff.
Colton Adams supplied one of the most complete offensive games with his perfect 3-for-3 performance at Colorado Springs. He reached base five times, scored three runs and stole two bases. Bret Leiferman was one of Roswell's most consistent offensive threats, producing multi-hit games throughout the summer and carrying an average above .400 deep into the season.
Lance Myers provided another dangerous bat in the lineup, while Robert Morosetti, Hunter Hill, Cole Chambers, Austin Thurman and Greg Carrington contributed throughout the summer.
On the mound, Ashton Holdridge delivered several important performances, highlighted by seven innings and five strikeouts at Colorado Springs and a five-inning victory over Garden City. Carter Coats struck out eight over six innings against Alpine and earned an early-season victory at Santa Fe. Easton Barnes earned an important road victory over Tucson and later struck out five over five innings in a victory over Santa Fe.
Kyle Kuttruf provided a two-strikeout winning relief appearance against Santa Fe, while Greg Carrington delivered two scoreless, hitless innings to earn the victory in Roswell's dramatic 12-11 win over Alpine.
Roswell's offense also produced some enormous team performances during the season, including 24 runs against Colorado Springs, 20 runs at Trinidad and 15 runs in victories over Santa Fe and Garden City.
From Adams reaching base five times and Holdridge's seven-inning start to Coats' eight strikeouts, Leiferman's consistent multi-hit production and Carrington's scoreless relief against Alpine, the 2021 Roswell Invaders season featured outstanding individual performances throughout the summer.
