Santa Fe Fuego Outslug Roswell Invaders 18-12

June 27 2018 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Roswell Invaders 18-12 at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 21 hits and scored in each of the first eight innings, while Roswell finished with 14 hits and one error. The Fuego built a 9-1 lead through two innings and held a 10-3 advantage after three. Roswell rallied with four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to cut the deficit to 12-9. Santa Fe answered with two runs in each of the sixth seventh and eighth innings to regain control. The Invaders scored three times in the ninth but could not complete the comeback. Jackson Webb led Santa Fe with two hits five RBI and two runs scored, including a home run. Ethan Estes went 4-for-5 with four runs scored an RBI and a homer, while Zach Hoffman and Donny Ortiz Jr. each had three hits. Dan Pellinen also homered and finished with three hits and an RBI. Ambrose Romero scored three runs and added two hits. Yale Hughes earned the win after allowing 11 hits and nine runs in seven innings while striking out nine and walking three. Trent Maloney worked a scoreless inning with two strikeouts before Hunter Pearson completed the game. Roswell starter Carson Corff took the loss after allowing 13 hits and 12 runs six earned in five innings. Louis Martini homered twice and drove in two runs for the Invaders, while Justin Byrd hit a pinch-hit three-run homer.
