June 23 2011 The Roswell Invaders held off the Alpine Cowboys 8-7 at Coca Cola Park. Roswell scored 10 hits and overcame a four-run second inning by Alpine, which finished with 12 hits and seven runs.
Alpine built a 4-1 lead in the second before Roswell answered with a run in the fourth and six runs in the fifth to take an 8-5 advantage. The Cowboys scored twice in the sixth, but Roswell kept Alpine off the board over the final three innings.
Tyler Hicks led Alpine with three hits and four RBI, including a double. Eric Garcia added two RBI, while Zach Welch drove in one run. For Roswell, Cody Fuqua went 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Josh Grady had one hit and two RBI. Clifton Thomas and Justin Uribe each collected two hits.
Grady earned the win after allowing 10 hits and seven runs, five earned, in eight innings with three walks and three strikeouts. Anthony Carrillo pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Alpine starter Kevin Foeman took the loss after giving up six hits and eight runs, seven earned, in 4 1/3 innings.
