Garden City Wind Rally Past Roswell to Win Mountain Division Championship

GARDEN CITY, Kansas - The Garden City Wind completed a dramatic comeback at Clint Lightner Field, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Roswell Invaders, 12- 10.

Garden City opened the game with four runs in the first inning. Ben Bach was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Leyton Barry drew a run-scoring walk, Aidan Grabowski added an RBI single and Rob Morosetti walked with the bases loaded to give the Wind a 4-0 lead.

Roswell answered with two runs in the third and four in the fourth. Anthony Castaneda stole home, Christopher Martinez lifted a sacrifice fly and Sean Moore delivered a two-run single as the Invaders moved ahead, 6-4.

Dom Enbody singled home Peyton Lewis in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to one, but Roswell extended its lead again. Martinez drove in two runs with a sixth-inning single, and Xander Nabors added a two-run single in the eighth to put the Invaders in front, 10-5.

The Wind responded with a championship rally in the bottom of the eighth. Bach reached on an error that scored Kaden Kirshenbaum, Barry brought home Enbody with a sacrifice fly and Morosetti drove in Bach with a groundout. Peyton Lewis was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, cutting Roswells lead to 10-9.

Kirshenbaum delivered the go-ahead hit with a two-run single that scored Trent Lowe and Darius Freeman. Enbody followed with another RBI single, scoring Lewis and giving Garden City a 12-10 advantage.

Tyler Bare pitched the ninth inning for Garden City. Roswell loaded the bases with two outs, but Bare retired Martinez on a fly ball to left field to finish the comeback victory.

Enbody led the Wind by going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Kirshenbaum had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. Bach, Barry and Morosetti each finished with two RBIs, while Grabowski collected two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.

Roswell was led by Nabors, who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Martinez drove in three runs, Moore had two hits and two RBIs, and Ryan Torres scored three runs while stealing four bases.
