Garden City Wind Outslug Roswell Invaders, 14- 10

The Garden City Wind used three four-run innings and a three-home run attack to defeat the Roswell Invaders 14-10 at Clint Lightner Field.

Roswell struck first in the top of the second inning when pitcher Orin Winslow launched a two- run home run after Anthony Castaneda singled. Garden City answered immediately with four runs in the bottom half. Kaden Kirshenbaum opened the rally with a solo home run, Leyton Barry stole home, Rob Morosetti doubled in Aidan Grabowski, and Darius Freeman added a sacrifice fly to give the Wind a 4-2 lead.

Garden City extended its advantage in the third and then broke the game open with four more runs in the fourth. Peyton Lewis and Trent Lowe each drove in a run before Dom Enbody delivered a two- run single that pushed the Wind ahead 9-2.

The Invaders cut into the deficit in the fifth. Christopher Martinez brought home Terry Daniels with a groundout, and Xander Nabors followed with a two-run homer to make it 9-5. Garden City responded with another run when Morosetti lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Barry.

Roswell pulled within four in the seventh on an RBI single by James Harris, but the Wind answered with their third four-run inning of the night. Barry drove in Kirshenbaum, pinch hitter Jordan Williams blasted a two-run home run, and Freeman followed with a solo shot to stretch the lead to 14-6.

The Invaders mounted one final rally in the eighth. Daniels singled home Castaneda, Martinez delivered a two-run single, and Nabors reached on an error that allowed Ryan Torres to score. Gavin Peterson entered from the Garden City bullpen and ended the threat before working a perfect ninth inning.

Freeman led the Wind offense by going 4-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Enbody finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Williams drove in two runs with his pinch-hit homer. Barry scored twice, walked three times, stole four bases, and drove in a run.

Martinez paced Roswell with three hits and three RBIs. Nabors homered and drove in three runs, while Winslow added a two-run homer. Torres scored three times, and Daniels stole three bases.

Max Vosters worked seven innings for Garden City, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out five. Peterson recorded the final five outs and struck out four of the five batters he faced. Winslow allowed nine runs over 3 1/3 innings for Roswell.
