Roswell Rallies Past Garden City 12-9 in 10 Innings

GARDEN CITY, Kansas - The Roswell Invaders erased a three-run deficit in the ninth inning and then scored three more runs in the tenth to defeat the Garden City Wind 12-9 on Tuesday night at Clint Lightner Field.

Xander Nabors delivered the decisive blow, launching a three-run home run in the top of the tenth inning. Ryan Torres and Christopher Martinez both walked ahead of Nabors, who drove them home and gave Roswell its first lead of the game. Nabors finished with four RBI and two runs scored.

Garden City jumped in front with three runs in the first inning. Dom Enbody drew a bases-loaded walk, Kaden Kirshenbaum brought home Peyton Lewis on a fielders choice, and Leyton Barry added a sacrifice fly. The Wind extended the lead to 6-1 in the third when Kirshenbaum hit a two-run homer and Jordan Williams followed with a solo shot.

Roswell began its comeback in the fifth inning when Nabors lifted a sacrifice fly to score Terry Daniels. Daniels then made it a one-run game in the sixth with a three-run home run that scored Carson Kirby and Jordan Gonzalez. In the seventh, James Harris singled home Martinez to tie the game at 6-6.

The Wind answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Enbody hit a solo home run, Aidan Grabowski doubled home Barry, and Tyler Bare singled in Grabowski to put Garden City back ahead 9-6.

Roswell refused to go quietly. In the top of the ninth, Torres walked, Martinez was hit by a pitch, and Nabors walked to load the bases. Harris singled home Torres, Kirby reached on an error that scored Martinez, and Anthony Castaneda walked with the bases loaded to bring home Nabors and tie the game at 9-9.

Austin Adair kept Garden City off the scoreboard in the ninth and tenth innings. The Wind loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the tenth, but Adair got Barry to ground out to second base to end the game.

Harris led Roswell with three hits and two RBI. Daniels went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Martinez reached base four times, scored three runs, doubled, and stole three bases. Taylor Steig added two hits, including a double.

Williams led Garden City with three hits and a home run. Kirshenbaum drove in three runs, while Enbody homered, scored twice, and collected two RBI. Darius Freeman and Peyton Lewis each had two hits.

Roswell finished with 12 runs on 10 hits and committed one error. Garden City scored nine runs on 12 hits and committed three errors. The game lasted four hours.
