Castanedas Walk-Off Homer Lifts Roswell Past Grand Junction, 8-7

ROSWELL, New Mexico - Anthony Castaneda launched a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Roswell Invaders to an 8-7 victory over the Grand Junction Razorback Suckers at Joe Bauman Stadium.

Roswell appeared to be in control after building a 6-1 lead through six innings. The Invaders scored three unearned runs in the third, with Christopher Martinez and Taylor Steig each driving in runs before Xander Nabors crossed the plate on a balk.

The Invaders added three more runs in the sixth. Martinez singled home Noah Cantleberry, and James Harris followed with a two-run single that scored Ryan Torres and Martinez to stretch the lead to five runs.

Grand Junction produced a dramatic six-run rally in the top of the eighth inning. Jake Alwine started the comeback with an RBI double, and Nicholas Sall followed with a three-run home run that cut the deficit to 6-5. Aiden Bevan then drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, and Champ Garner walked with the bases loaded to put the Razorback Suckers ahead 7-6.

Roswell answered in the bottom of the eighth. Martinez walked, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on another Grand Junction error to tie the game at 7-7.

Neither team scored in the ninth or 10th innings. Colin Sepulveda retired all six batters he faced over two scoreless innings for Roswell, striking out three and keeping the game tied.

Castaneda ended the game leading off the bottom of the 11th, driving a 2-1 pitch over the fence for the walk-off home run. The Roswell catcher finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and the game-winning RBI.

Ryan Torres led the Invaders with three hits, including a double, and scored a run. Martinez scored three times, drove in two runs, walked twice and stole two bases. Harris added two RBI, while Taylor Steig and Carson Kirby each collected two hits.

Sall powered the Grand Junction offense by going 3-for-5 with a double, a three-run homer and three RBI. Alwine doubled, scored a run and drove in one, while Bevan reached base three times, scored twice and added an RBI.

Sepulveda earned the win after throwing two hitless innings. John Dooley took the loss for Grand Junction after allowing Castanedas home run in the 11th. Roswell finished with 12 hits and played error-free defense, while Grand Junction committed four errors in the loss.
