ROSWELL, New Mexico — Two top Pecos League teams battled it out on the field and with huge winds and a sandstorm in innings 4 through 6. James Harris delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Roswell Invaders defeated the Grand Junction Razorback Suckers, 10-9, in a back-and-forth contest at Joe Bauman Stadium.

Grand Junction tied the game at 9-9 in the top of the eighth when Jake Alwine scored on an outfield error. Roswell answered in the bottom half after Xander Nabors singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Harris then singled to right field to bring Nabors home with the deciding run.

Nabors powered the Roswell offense by going 4- for-5 with three runs scored, a home run, five RBIs and a stolen base. His three-run homer in the fourth erased an 8-5 deficit and tied the game. Taylor Steig followed with a solo home run to give the Invaders a 9-8 lead.

Roswell opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning and added three more in the second. Nabors drove in two runs with a single in the second, and Harris added a sacrifice fly to put the Invaders ahead 5-2.

Grand Junction responded with six runs over the third and fourth innings. Nicholas Sall singled home a run in the third, and Michael Doerr followed with a two-run double before scoring on a balk. Elias Fiddler added a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and Sall later scored on a throwing error to give the Razorback Suckers an 8-5 advantage.

Sall led Grand Junction by going 4-for-5 with three runs, a double, a home run and two RBIs. Doerr finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Basiel Williams went 2-for-5 with a home run, an RBI and a stolen base.

Christopher Martinez scored three times for Roswell and collected two hits. Harris drove in three runs, while Steig added a solo homer. Roswell finished with 11 hits, while Grand Junction recorded 14.

John Luegering earned the victory for Roswell, improving to 2-0 after retiring all four batters he faced over 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Caleb Menard took the loss for Grand Junction after allowing one run on four hits over four innings.
